The entry level Alivio Bolo offers a great combination of value and performance. The progressive/fast action of the Full Carbon + Geofibre blank has a reinforced handle section to increase stiffness, which improves casting performance, and a responsive tip to increase tip speed.
The Alivio Bolo is a great choice if you are looking for a Bolognese rod that offers excellent value for money. Unlike many ‘entry-level’ rods, the Alivio is made from a Full Carbon blank which greatly improves the action, especially in the longest 6.00m model, where you can certainly feel the additional stiffness in the lower section. For younger anglers the shortest 3.90m model makes an excellent first rod as it is easy to handle and offers a versatile casting range of 4-20g.
The Full Carbon blank of the Alivio is reinforced with Shimano’s exclusive Geofibre which provides additional strength to the rod whilst also improving the action. Although not having exactly the same type of ultra-fast action as Shimano’s more expensive Bolognese rods, the progressive/fast action is more than suitable for many situations when longer rods are required. One of the noticeable advantages of the action is that it can be more forgiving when casting and playing fish, which makes it especially suitable for young or inexperienced anglers. Fitted with Shimano Hardlite guides and a Shimano plate reel seat, the Alivio is supplied with a plastic guide protector for safe transportation.
